Libraries typically look toward "on-site" data collection and reporting of their people traffic. Count data may simply be read off the digital display of the counters, or the counts may be collected on a PC by our TrafficFlow Server software in an Access database, where custom traffic reports may then be created.
Within a typical branch, the counters are mounted just inside the entrance on a flat door frame or wall just inside the entrance at a height of 50"-54" to prevent overcounting from arms and packages. Double-sided padded tape or screws can be used to mount the counters. Once activated by the installer, there is virtually no action required by branch personnel.

Counting Technologies offers the most streamlined collection and transfer of count data available in the industry. Single-location and other smaller libraries typically use the following basic data flow process.

Our Non-Directional people counters have a 6-digit LCD display so the traffic count may be read directly off the counter. These "No-Radio" counters are less expensive and useful to count traffic across nearly any span up to 30-feet.

Note: The "No-Radio" counters have no internal radio, so the count is only shown on the display, and not transmitted to a PC. At any time, the current counts may be recorded and entered into Excel or another program to create charts and monitor trends in people traffic.
However, this can be a labor-intensive process to manually read & record the counts, then create charts and tables in Excel. The data would likely only be read at the end of each day, which would NOT allow "intra-day" count data, such as an 'hourly' breakdown of traffic.
